Aaaarrrgghh

5 08 2008

I have got a taste of the tiredness again here at altitude. Resting up today and hopefully it will be away by tommorow… Chance would be a fine thing eh?

9 Days to go and I cannot wait to leave. We should make a new TV show called “I’m a triathlete, get me outta here!” Its bound to take off. Watching an already extremely skinny person get even skinnier and talk to other triathletes about nothing except triathlon is bound to take off! I think one of the main reasons for my desperation to leave is that we have the choice of two english speaking channels on the telly in the shape of CNN and the ever wonderful Eurosport. Dont get me wrong, it was great to see the tour in all its drug-clad glory but it is the fact that CNN in particular is designed for the more discerning traveller. ie the one that is simply passing through. This can surely be the only reason why they would repeat the same programmes day in day out for a week? Doing my head in so it is!

This is the last hard week before Aberfeldy. Im so over the whole notion of Aberfeldy at the moment. I think that one of the reasons Im feeling horrible today is I have been so excited to race at home! Sharing a flat with Beijing Olympians has really put it in perspective though. Its not that huge a deal in the grand scheme of things but it will always be the place I won my first sprint triathlon! I believe that Andy Turnbull, www.andyturnbull.co.uk claimed the title this year? It may not have been held yet but if it has I am sure he will take the win. The guy is a demon on the bike.

So no news to report. I am going to try and get my bike serviced this week and get the folks to purchase me some gels for the Feldy. But apart from that its just the usual blood, sweat and gears. 9 Days until I am home, 11 to Aberfeldy.

The only other ‘announcement’ I have to make is a new sponsor for me by way of Champion System clothing. You may have seen on Gav Nobles website his minging new tri suit… This is no fault of Champ Sys but more his poor colour selection! I will chuck a picture of my new suit below. I will be recieving all race kit in the form of a two piece tri suit and one piece for long distance racing as well as a one piece for ITU elite races should I race any in 2009. As for training kit they will send me as much biking gear as I can shake a stick at as well as some running and casual wear. Their website is www.champ-sys.com so check them out!

Pimpage!

Pimpage!

Hope everyone’s training is going well and I will see you all in the near future. Unless of course you are not in Scotland in which case, why not?

PS Well done Andy Murray!!!!!

Im back…

… On the internet.

I am still in Les Angles in France training my behind off. Two weeks to go and counting…

So Lisa Norden, Daniela Ryf and Carolyn Murray are off to The Olympics! Wow, I can’t believe they are all going. What a fantastic expierience it will be for them and a culmination of all their hard work over the last year. I am so excited for them, especially because there is free MacDonalds in the athletes village!

It is only the three muskateers who are left. Myself Eanna McGrath from Ireland and Dave Dellow from Oz. Can’t wait to get home now but just 14 days more hard work and I will be ready to rock in Aberfeldy… And more importantly Ironman UK.

My boyish charm and witty banter have deterierted beyond repair and, as you have no doubt seen, so has my spelling! Who am I kidding my banter has always been rubbish! But if I am boring you then I appologise. I just dont have the energy to be funny these days. Comedy mostly comprises of in-jokes such as “Sssshh”, “Abuse Me”, “I am strong… like a lion” and “She likes the big men”. Take from that what you will but unless you are either Swedish, Swiss or Canadian and going to Beijing then its way above your head.

Big congratulations to everyone from Stirling Tri who took part at Ironman Switzerland. I know how hard those things are so mucho respecto as they say. I have always wondered who ‘they’ are but that is what they say! I will see you all in a no doubt very rainy Weem on the 15th.

Aberfeldy will be a lead up race for me to Ironman UK and although I would be ecstatic to do well at it I need to keep reminding myself that in the grand scheme of things, for me, it is not an important race this year. Just a hard training day nothing more, nothing less.

Any other news? I have a couple more sponsors to add to my list. One of which I will need to wait a while to reveal, the other of which is CEP Compression Socks. Thank you again to Daniel and Chris for helping me out with these. I will be giving them a test run at Aberfeldy!

So yeah thats it. If I think of anything exciting to say then I will post it but if not see you on the 16th.

Good luck to my girls at Beijing. Someone might beat them but you can be sure they will have to bleed to do it!
